The duration of studies in the Department of Fisheries and Technology is eight (8) semester. During the first seven (7) semesters, the undergraduate studies include theoretical and laboratorial teaching as well as exercises for the theory of certain courses (visits in working places, seminars attendance, work assignments, technical presentations, case studies, etc), aiming at the strengthening of knowledge and technological skills in the field of studies. During the last eighth (8th) semester, the practical training of student is accomplished in work places in order for the new technologist to gain work experience.

The various courses of undergraduate studies according to the field of studies are listed in three different sections:

1. Section of Surface Waters

Section Head: Dr. George Skoufas, Assistant Professor

2. Section of Fisheries and Aquaculture

Section Head: Dr. Sofia Galinou - Mitsoudi, Professor

3. Section of Biological and Fisheries Applications

(New name pending: Division of Biotechnological Applications)

Section Head:Dr. Anastasia Imsiridou, Associate Professor

The last eighth (8th) semester, includes undergraduate thesis and practical training. The undergraduate thesis aims in the familiarization of the student with the planning, concretization, writing and presentation of an original topic of his specialty. During this work thesis the student also familiarizes himself with the library search, selection and use of scientific and research information. 
The aim of the practical training is the acquisition of real experience in primary, secondary and tertiary working sector. The selection of a working place aims in the possibility of maximizing and strengthening of the acquired knowledge of the student in order to develop skills in problem solving, undertaking of initiatives and collective work.
